Salt is a substance produced from an acid-base reaction. Sometimes, it can be neutral (NaCl), sometimes Acidic (NH4Cl) and sometimes Basic (CH3COONa) in a solution.
HCl + NaOH = NaCl + H2O
NH4OH + HCl = NH4Cl + H2O
CH3COOH + NaOH = CH3COONa
